6/26/2023 0 Comments Kung fu panda 3![]() "Kung Fu Panda 4," should it arrive, will have to stand on its own. Kung Fu Panda 3 is a 2016 3D computer-animated action comedy martial arts film, produced by DreamWorks Animation and Oriental DreamWorks, and distributed by 20th Century Fox.It was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni. The film finishes strong with a fun "Magnificent Seven"-style ending that once again leaves no loose ends. At times, "Kung Fu Panda 3" feels like watching a 95-minute movie trailer. The next scene has often arrived before the viewer can process the last one. "Kung Fu Panda 3" has a moment or two for everyone, but no chance to develop any character beyond a single dimension. ![]() (Only "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich and writer Michael Arndt had the guts to kill off a couple of old characters to keep the numbers down.) When the script starts to feel overstuffed, what are you going to do? Tell Angelina Jolie her lines are being cut back? You must include all the beloved characters from the past, while adding new ones to lure in audiences and to keep the Target toy aisle looking fresh. That's the problem with continuing a franchise like this one. None of the above feels especially well-explored or necessary. Most of the key players from the older movies also show up, giving the first act a receiving line feel. An often exhilarating, kaleidoscopic manhua combining the traditions of overblown martial arts and the simple, fantastic stories of folklore. The sequel begins to falter when it introduces new characters, including Po's father ( Bryan Cranston), the aforementioned baby pandas and a diva protagonist voiced by Kate Hudson who is only in a few scenes. I can think of worse things to do with the future "Kung-Fu Panda 3" DVD than turning the sound off the film and syncing it up with Pink Floyd's "The Wall." The visuals are strong, especially in the swirly, trippy, hyper-real spirit realm, which seems made for hallucinogens as much as 3D glasses. Tigress first lived at the Bao Gu Orphanage as a cub, where she received help in controlling her strength and temper from Shifu, who later took her in as his. She is a master of the Tiger Style of kung fu. She is a member of the Furious Five as well as one of Master Shifu's students at the Jade Palace. (One of the comedian's positive qualities in his performances and interviews: You always feel like he's appropriately grateful for his continued fame.) Master Tigress is one of the main supporting characters of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. The wry dialogue and slapstick-heavy humor still work, as Jack Black continues to make an effort voicing the titular Kung-Fu Panda. It's hard to say anyone doesn't get their money's worth, even as the story strains under the weight of it all.ĭreamWorks Animation retains "Kung-Fu Panda 2" director Jennifer Yuh Nelson and the writers of the first two films, bringing a continued sense of quality control. The film introduces a parent who Po the orphaned panda presumed was dead, a litter of baby pandas and a beast from another dimension - released from his spirit kingdom and threatening to destroy all of the above. The makers of "Kung Fu Panda 3" seem to understand this, and they treat the new movie like the all-you-can-eat buffet that the franchise has become. ★★★★ Excellent ★★★ Good ★★ Fair ★ Poor See More Collapse
